Finally after weeks of miserable weather I took the EFI Woodsman out today for the first time. Lovely bike, much improved ride quality over the old trusty 500cc Classic and our hosts Trials bars are a big improvement on the wider bars that come as standard. However the low fuel warning light is staying on - even with tank full to brimming. Has anyone experienced this problem?

Its a common problem with the fuel level switch in the tank… Either the float is stuck,(gummed up) or the switch is knackered…

Remove from the tank and test electrically moving the float up and down… Failing that a short in the wiring/connectors…

Hang on! "took the EFI Woodsman out today for the first time"
If this is a new bike just tell the supplier to fix it.

Thanks guys - Pete yes new bike 30 miles on clock but bought from CG Chell in Staffs. And I am in Glasgow so keen to resolve locally for obvious reasons.

Welcome to the distance club!

Bought my 'new' woodsman in Kent, 20 miles on the clock, took it to France where it lives, took bottom plate of for maintenance, found loads of silver painted JB weld type putty holding the oil in, the hex bolts were a bit rounded and one of the seat bolt holes had a stripped thread! Engine and frame numbers matched, already 3 years old when I bought it!

It's still in France, runs like a dream, putty still there, and I love the bike! just need to get a longer M8 bolt and a matching nut for when I next take the seat off!

They are great looking bikes and that exhaust note !

Hello again, not much help but my Woodsman from Chells also has the same problem. Hopefully I will be taking it in for its first service in a couple of weeks so will see if they sort it. Im not hopefull they effect a permanent solution as it seems a very common problem.

I assume this injector self bleeds if you run it out of fuel, not like the diesels of old

Tox - please let me know what they say - and you can say I have the same problem. I dealt with Jim on the phone initially. If you can email me at [email protected] that would be great. I would rather get it fixed up here than send it back to them.
