After reading your blog.
Saddle nose fixing - remove saddle from mounting spindle thingy, assemble to frame mounting hand tight then jam a screwdriver blade in between the nut and the side of the housing then twist the whole thing. You'll get it a lot tighter than hand tight. Add a spring washer and it'll do.
Didn't you get two mounting plates to fix the bottom of the springs so they are more upright? Like this;

I think I got some with mine - or did I make them?
You might find longer a good idea studs - they are BSCy

Oh, and you'll see I made the studs a lot longer and popped a spacer in to raise the back of the saddle a bit.

Oh whoops...! I put those little plates under the saddle and mounted the springs directly onto the studs. I am loathe to take the bugger off again.. It was a battle to get the thing mounted. My fingers are just too big.

See, I had nothing to guide me or compare to. Oh well. We live and learn!

Pete.. I just nipped out to the shed and changed my fitting of the saddle to the way you have described above. It took me ten minutes and makes much more sense. I did as you suggested with the forward nut under the nose.. worked like a charm.

I made some plates just like that to fit the Dunlop rubber saddle to my Works Replica Trials, made all the difference!
