Could anyone tell me what thread is used on the rear brake rod adjusting nut 140544 on a late 90s Bullet.

After June 1994 is most likely metric.

not sure of size, but may be able to match by trying nuts of a known size!

Toddy, can I ask what it is you intend to do with the rod. Is it that you can't find a suitable adjusting nut? Parts list already states its metric.

I can confirm 5/16th 26TPI and even my 06 Electra is still the same. No idea what they are using on the UCE's

RE used 26tpi on pretty much everything even though officially Cycle thread goes to 20 tpi at 9/16". The exception was threads into aluminium castings where they used whitworth.

Hi Simon, RE used 26 TPI in the ally components, dumbest of dumbest idea was the barrel studs, 26 TPI into ally and you have to pull the head down usint these threads, no wonder the strip often and this is why head and base gaskets leak. A fool whoever started that idea and the Indians continued with this till probably about 2004 when they moved to metric, which is better but whit would have been a much better idea right from the beginning. Timing cover is 26TPI as well but at least Albion used the coarse thread on their gearboxes
