Hi, very simple question. I have just bought a new Woodsman. When I collected it the dealer stated that the 1st service was 600 miles and the warranty was one year. However the manual and internet state the 1st service should be 300 miles to comply with the warranty. Also I have read somewhere that the warranty is two years. I appreciate sometimes different countries have different specs and advice but can anyone confirm which is correct (the dealer did seem somewhat vague), thanks

Hi,
In Switzerland, where I live and Germany, where I bought my EFI, the guarantee is two years and with European Standardisation, I believe the same applies in the UK.
Best ring the importer, or whoever took over from Watsonian and establish the position or even call your local trading standards office.
Good luck

Trevorch, hi thanks for prompt reply, I did email the UK importers (MotoGB) but no reply. I will get back to my supplying dealer and discuss with the service dept, I may get a more definite answer, thanks.

I just bought a Woodsman Efi from CG Chell in Stafford, Warwickshire. First oil change is 300 miles and warranty is two years assuming service schedule is followed but it does NOT have to be done by a main dealer. Any problems arising must be routed back via the dealer from whom the bike was purchased - not to Watsonian or Moto GB. The contract is with the dealer. They will then take a view on what to do. More importantly what colour is yours? Mine is black with black and chrome tank. Not ridden it yet, only 14 miles on the clock following the PDI.

When Watsonian were still importing the warranty for these bikes was 1 year labour, 2 years parts. First service was around 500 km in the manual, which translates to 300 miles. The first service is important - there will be a lot of crud from running in!

Thanks everybody for all the replies. I love the bike but in 44 years of continuous motorcycling its the 1st new bike I have purchased so thought I may as well at least look at complying with warranty conditions.(I like doing my own servicing) Sofiaspin, my bike is also from Chells of Stafford. I got it in November. Mine is all black with gold lettering and no rubber tank pads. I went to look at the one with the chrome/black tank but then liked this one.. Ive only done 200 mils so far hence asking about the 1st service (it will put 50 miles on riding it back to the shop!) Im from Matlock so it will be getting dirty (again) on some gentleish green lanes. Regards, Malc

Tox, - Michael is right ref labour warranty. It is a pain the rear to send a bike back so if something goes wrong I will get it dealt with locally. I spotted my bike on ebay - it was £4600 on the road which seemed a fair deal to me. I have replaced the bars with hosts trials bars (higher and a touch narrower) and will probably replace trials tyres with avon roadriders as this will bring the bike down half an inch or so and make it easier for my chicken legs to reach over the saddle.

Sofiaspin... there is an Enfield dealership in Paisley now. Avuss, on Murray Street near the old Love Street football stadium (and, in fact, near the new St Mirren Park as well!). They mainly deal with KTMs, so your bike will probably come back painted orange. Perhaps any warranty issues could be dealt with by agreement through another official Enfield dealer - especially if it saves on costs.
