Ok guy's I am getting an Enfield in a couple of months. A local dealer has just started selling Enfield's . Now then I have the option to get a new B5 bullet, and getting a good trade-in on my Bmw k1200lt, but I keep looking at a65 bullet at another dealer, but he wants an outright sale. So is the efi a better proposition than a classic ? I do quite a few miles 2up and the total weight rider & pillion will be about 28 stone (Im no lightweight) so which would be the better option. My partner is quite keen on the efi because this will probably be the last bike I buy, and will hopefully require less maintenance(says he hopefully). By the way it wont be my only bike . I look forward to your replies
Cheers Davie

Hopefully the dealer is going to put a demo on soon, I had a good play on an almost new 65 army look alike a few years ago and have fond memories of the ride. I would imagine the efi will be more refined ? No doubt someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks for your reply's and will get to meet some of you when I get it
Cheers Davie

Im selling the 1200 as I don't need two big bikes, I have had an 1100gs for 10 years and have no plans to get rid of it. I fancy an Enfield as a mainly solo bike for weekends camping etc. I have been offered £2500 part ex so if anyone on here wants it at that price let me know.

For that sort of work-load I'd opt for a BSA B50 myself.......

Hi Dave have had a 500efi for 4years now and taken it as far as Africa with no problem so far 9000 miles you need to get the power commander also the hosts exhaust it makes such a difference the bike is good for A B roads but not motorways has a lot of grunt so when in top not much need to change down go for it

Well Davie, seeing you won't listen to sound advice you then must move forward and consider your next move. What experience do you have with repairing bikes and is this what you want to do? My personal opinion and this is only mine, the UCE's are a girly looking bike, nothing wrong with that if that is what you want, but they seem fairly reliable. The 65 you are thinking about can also be a good bike but there is always the probability that it will at some stage break the piston or big end. I would ask the dealer if he knows anything about the bike and if it has been fitted with a roller big end and a decent piston. Unless you are prepared to take a chance on that and are prepared to pull the motor down yourself then I would probably say get a UCE if riding not fixing is what you want to do. Remember these machines struggle on freeways/motorways. I'm trying to be blunt and helpful
