Hello,
I recently aquired a royal enfield model j2 and am not sure on the year of the machine. The engine number is j217546 , can anyone help me out dating this?

Lucky you! I have always wanted a J or J2, but never even seen one here in Norway. I believe that these have all the good sides of the G (which I have), just with a more torquey engine. The G is a very good motorcycle, but I could make use of some more torque and a few more horsepower (or kW as they are called today) on longe rides in modern traffic. Your best bet is join the Royal Enfield Owners Club there dating officer will be able to help you as well as getting good advice on getting proper paper work and dating certificate....

Thanks for the advice, as i'm new to royal enfields, and they are quite rare over here in the states too so i will check out the REOC -Justin
