1992 500 Bullet - I am getting an electrical miss-fire, across the rev. range, but ONLY when the lights are on. Any ideas before I start to try and find a problem please?

Every month or so we get one with this problem.. Go straight to the wiring loom where it goes around the back mudguard, they often fray against the metal and short when power on for the rear light… Alternative would be check light switch as these corrode internally and can short… gwilly
