Hey out there , I have a 1995 Bullet 500 with electronic ignition.
It is the double bronze bush type (skinny housing ) with a grease nipple , I over pumped the last time and pushed it's oil seal out which rubbed and was replaced and dont want to do the same again . With the engine ticking over ..how many pumps on the grease gun does everybody else do with this housing .
There is no word of it in the handbook or workshop manual , what if it pumps out into the timing chest as well , yellow grease and engine oil dont mix .
The bushes have only done 2,000 miles so thats the last time I greased it Before I fitted the seal so I could see it ozzing out ..wiped it then fitted seal and set the ignition timing ..as I dont want to pull it all out to see if I have pumped the right amount but I'll be dammed if I can remember how many pumps ?

I did the same, and my timing advance was all over the place due to bob weights running in packed grease, so having replaced the seal I replaced the grease nipple with a screw, now I just put a squirt of engine oil in regularly... Haven't noticed further wear in several k miles, so seems to work! One of those little spring top oilers that bikes used to have would be even easier if you can still get them.

Phil, if you packed it properly when you fitted the new bush and seal I wouldn't touch it again. If the seal works as it should the grease can't escape, not like it is under extreme pressure to force the grease out
