Re the metal/gauze oil filter on a 58 crusader. Which way does the little brass cap sit. I now it goes at the bottom of the filter but does it go large hole facing up and the filter sits in it about quarter inch or does it go in small hole facing up.

It fits over the filter, ie cup facing upwards and at the bottom of the filter when installed. It must be fitted correctly or will block oil supply!

Yup that's how i had it....I was looking over some parts diagrams today and just had second thoughts! Thanks for the confirmation!
