I popped into my dealer today with a view to seeing a Conti in the flesh (none in stock). I was told the first batch of 60 have already sold out and the next load are due in a couple of weeks time. Looks like sales are going well.

however 30 of the first 60 were pre registered by enfield for a publicity stunt and will be used by dealers as demo bikes, of the other 30 , most are on ebay!

I visited a dealer in Scarboro' a over two weeks ago to arrange a test ride and was told I would be contacted 'within the next few days' with a set time etc (he needed a little time as the bike needed registering). Not heard a word since......

Hi Riggers - that is strange as I bought mine from them just under 2 weeks ago and previously had no problem booking a demo on the phone for the next day. I took mine back on Monday for its first service and they had at least 3 bikes in the showroom/service area in addition to mine. I know Dave was on holiday last week so you may have got "lost" but just give them a call or drop an email as I have been very pleased with the service and approach I have received.

i must say our local enfield dealer does not have a conti gt in stock although he has had 3 efi,s in stock since moto gb took over and i don,t think that he has sold 1 single bike ,as for test riding i don,t see the point if your heart is set on something buy one the test ride starts with ownership thats why i refused a harley test ride ,just went out and bought one and after just over a week and 400 miles + running in im very happy and i will just say this over the years i have had many bikes and have never test rode any ,heres a little story ,i was at leeds harley davidson last week and i saw a young guy test riding an 883 sporster iron he just exited the car park gates and fell off after a shakey start then he was last seen heading towards the canal i told the sales man that he may need a crane and a lifebouy if he wanted to get his test bike and stunt rider back!! good look to anybody who buys a conti i,d have one tomorrow but it would have to have wide trials bars and sensible footpegs but thats just me being decrepid with dodgy legs!!ride safe atb paul.

I find it slightly irritating that Alan R appears to be relishing in the delusion that the GT's are not selling - tell me dear boy - how many ford Focus / Honda CBR 600 / ink cartridges etc etc do you see for sale on Ebay - are they "not selling" ??? Its the most powerful selling platform in the World at this time. I totally agree with Grunda - I bought a GT unseen, untested - just because I knew it would be a great bike - which it is, its the Royal Enfield I have been waiting for. I hate it when the factory have gone to so much trouble to produce a bike what we want only to have the usual people on this forum start slagging it off from the start...Its a great little bike and will outsell every other EFI to date - but I suppose unless it outsells the Honda C90 or outperforms the Suzuki Hayabusa - Alan R will be there to gloat....

Arthur,
I didn't see any gloating in Alans original post he was only making a statement or amazed that there was so many on ebay.

Attention HITCHCOCKS !!!!-----------------I ask you most sincerely }--please DON'T delete this latest entry from ARTHUR as I would expend as much POSITIVE energy and take whatever HONEST means are needed to DEFEND his right to free speech, as he would in opposite mode to attack my integrity and sincerity.....As I mentioned the last time his spleen popped out for a venting, I'm sure I know just who this person is....As for myself, as an Ex-RN serviceman I'm quite happy for "Capt". Bilge-Rat (Junior) to hoist himself up with his own petard ( and very good at that he is to !!)...... Now here's a thought}-----If he doesn't respond to this post of mine then he's made ( and won ) his point................ If, as I suspect, he can't help but to add some more then I won't respond out of respect for the genuine people on this forum-------------- Well ARTHUR, CAN you demonstrate some self restraint ??? ------ Hmmmm ?? .........Bet you can't !!!----------
