Scalyback's guide to Ethanol in France




Thankfully, fuel in France is clearly marked.



If it says 95 or 98, then that it what it is.



Somewhat cheaper is the mixed fuel with 10% ethanol to 90% 95 type fuel this is marked at the pump as SP95-E10.



Older bikes were not designed to drink ethanol with it's corrosive properties and likelihood of containing water too!



Giving this to an older bike will make it sound drunk as well as eating fibreglass tanks and other problems.



It is similar to liken adding ethanol to fuel for a bike, to adding methylated spirit to whiskey for your grandmother.

I trust there is similar sense in the UK?

I wouldn't be suprised if the other petrol had 5% ethanol even though it isn't marked as such. Bring back 5* petrol I say, my Norton Commando with 10-1 pistons loved it!
