Hello All, long time lurker, first time poster.

I have a 2007 350 Bullet. it has developed a very annoying habit of jumping out of 2nd gear. This happens most of the time unless foot is held over the gearlever for a moment. sometimes it jumps from 1st but this is far less common. 3rd and 4th don't are no problem.

I have read various posting and a recurrent theme was oil level. I checked this and this was found to be overfull, I drained the excess. this doesn't seem to have made much difference.

Any Ideas? change plunger and or Ratchet mech? rebuild? its done about 5500 miles though, cannot need rebuilding yet?

thanks in advance.

First thing, tighten the plunger that holds the gear operator plate in position. Worth a try before delving any deeper.

Hi guys--------- SHANE, is this when accelerating, cruising or on the overrun ?? ( Makes a difference)

Most probably clutch related, clutch having slight drag and it just won't click into gear 100% so it can then pop out

Thank you for your replies, I will tak e a closer look at the adjustment of the clutch at the weekend. Hopefully a tweak of the adjustment will help.

Well, I adjusted the clutch, several times over the past few weeks. I am sure that the clutch is doing its job properly, but the problem remains. I have paid very close attention to the manner in which i change gear and I have noticed that if when changing into gear a positive 'click' is felt then it won't jump out, but if it feels a little vague then it will jump out. I have gotten pretty good a predicting when it will jump out!

Knowing when it will is not much use though. after a trawl of the normal places i have seen several references to a 'detent plunger' and 'ratchet'. Are these the likely culprits and are they straight forward to replace? or is this time to overhaul the whole box? seems a little young to be doing a major overhaul though.

I am grateful for your thoughts.
