G'day people,
Yesterday's attempt to replace my ailing ignition switch with 2 toggle switches ended in tears... it looked simple according to my wiring diagram. Some of you will remember from a year ago that I posted the diagram as I wasn't sure how to connect up a Powerbox. The bike was completed rewired by previous owner but the indicated ignition wiring is WRONG! Can anyone spot anything obvious? It looks like when the ignition is on, it connects R to BL, and R/W to BL/W. so I followed this and connected the toggle switches and nothing doing. I tested the ignition switch and it transpires that R connects to R/W, so I assumed that BL would then connect to BL/W, but it doesn't. Can anyone spot what is wrong?

It might not help directly, but I reqired my EFI ignition yesterday too. From the ignition there were 4 wires, but only two of which actually seemed to connect to anything. A blue and a black cable terminated in the block connector a few inches from the switch (and were not even routed back into the ignition as the wiring diagram indicated?!). Only the R and RW actually went to anything in the loom!

On another note, your picture isn't high enough resolution to blow up in order to read. So I can't make out the wiring colours nor many of the switches on the pic...

I don't think that diagram is correct. Most Enfield ignition switches don't break the two circuits together. One set of contacts is made and the other broken when the key is turned. I'm sure there is a reason, but couldn't you just replace the ignition switch itself?

Hi Michael and Midge - thanks for your replies. It is an aftermarket ignition switch that was fitted by the previous owner and I have tried in the past to replace the switch but ended up not getting very far. Here is a bigger version (apologies for having to scroll around the screen).
