I'm sure a lot of us can relate to this. Mine are, * Loose mirror that needs adjusting every few miles, * worn chain, * gearbox overhaul * and a crack in the crankcase that needs welding that JB Weld has been used on and lasted at least 4 years so far without any leaks.

I'm not sure too many will respond to this thread... it may indicate a deviation from the usually strict regime of maintenance that I assume some of the older memebrs on here follow?
In my case, there are several jobs that need attention:
Adjust pushrod clearance on ex. valve
Re-draw wiring diagram to reflect changes after fitting powerbox (it's ONLY been a year, ffs!)
Come to mention it - rewire whole bleedin' bike, so I can get rid of the toolboxes and hardtail it (eventually)
Make brackets to accept a dual seat that Alan R kindly sold me at a good price
Rescue the bike from where I left it this morning after the throttle cable snapped, and the one I had spare was JUST too short and the slide won't sit at the lowest point in the carb - this is probably the most urgent of all the jobs!

I think we should all be honest! My list includes: fit a proper hooter instead of the sad effort I currently have hanging off a crude home-made bracket; properly route the clutch cable; paint the tool boxes to properly match the fuel tank; cure the oil/grease leak from the kickstart shaft; replace the HT lead.

Oh why not... I'll join in. My jobs also include a loose mirror, a crack in the exhaust, possible seating issue in the exhaust (not valve, but pipe) and trying to keep the electricity INSIDE the appropriate wires, rather than flooding out through my fuses and melting fuse holders




Less urgent... sprag clutch replacement, MOT.

Yep, me too. Need to replace the worn primary chain on the Mk1 Interceptor(the one it came with, I tried to replace it but the tensioner has been refaced with Teflon and a new one won't fit!), fix that stripped thread on the top yoke, get the tachometer repaired so it doesn't ping about etc etc... But it's running really nicely and there's still nice days to ride! A tip here, when you lay them up, do you forget to note what needs doing? My pal uses old fashioned parcel labels attached to the handlebars with a list of known issues/service reminders so that they can be sorted over the winter. Started doing it myself, really helps!

Keep meaning to go into the garage and put the engine at TDC to avoid wet sumping. It will only take a minute but something ALWAYS crops up just before I mean to go (like writing this....).

Have to get the crank case stiffener put in place.. have discovered a minor dent in the tank that needs pulling out (my knee must have hit the tank hard when I got tipped off a few weeks ago..)... clean the wheels and spokes at both ends... and then just bugger about with it until it suits my discerning eye..


Just how does one pull a dent out..??

Having had to re-tap one of the axle retaining bolt holes on the front fork, it is now a different size from all the others (8mm rather than 5/16 IIRC). I should probably make them all the same size, otherwise I'm going to get very confused some time in the future. My exhaust is also missing its baffle. It was there last time I looked, honest. The bike doesn't sound much different without it though, so I may well not bother.

Problem we have out here is we don't get a winter so the bikes are never laid up so you never get around to do the winter maintenance jobs. You get the odd wet weekend but that is about it

All my bikes are in perfect working order and need no maintenance whatsoever. All the pigs need lining up neatly on the runway though.
