Evening all, hopefully someone can answer this, after riding 30 miles or so I pull-up, slip the gear into neutral and the bike is sitting there on tickover with me still sitting on it so it's upright, why do the revs gradually get slower and slower until the engine stalls, any ideas ?

Hi guys-------- Hi BERTIE, !! Did you turn the fuel tap off ??------------- As you're on the idle circuit of the carb. then that's the area to investigate(air and fuel supply)....Also linked to this is the float setting ( it might be just a tad to high ??)................... just for a bit of "relief" have a read of this -> -> -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carburetor ------------------- Note that a basic venturi and jet set-up would eventually choke itself to a halt by tending to get richer and richer...

Hi Bertie. Glad to hear your no longer for sale..

With this type of problem there are a number of variables to check.. One of course being float height..

But first let me ask how long has this problem existed? What i mean is has this problem been evident since you converted to Amal carb?

If not then we can assume that the basic jetting and filter arrangement are ok and that something else is to blame..

Has the exhaust started to "blue"? indicating excess heat.. Variables to check would be points gap, if still got.. maybe closing..

Timing may be retarded slightly and check exhaust valve tappet clearance..

Change to a higher octane fuel if your running supermarket stuff, will help with cooler running..

Lastly for the moment fit a Tufnol spacer between carb and head, will insulate and help keep the carb cooler..

If the carb is hot on tickover then the fuel will be vaporising too early and play havoc with slow running… Wide open throttle would be fine..

Like i said lots of variables. cheers gwilly..

There are tech notes on here to help with setting up your carb.
