Hi Guys: re sixty five main ignition switch, Has anyone o you lot changed there existing ignition key switch for an older styled bake-o-lite type as fitted to the 1950's BSA's etc (I would like to doo away with the key set-up).Some o you might think that it will be prone to being nicked but my older brit bikes work on same set up as what am after for the sixty five.
Your input is welcomed guys. thanks

Hi GURU,--------- I haven't actually done that particular mod BUT--- removing the switch unit from the casquette can be VERY FRUSTRATING !!!! as it's held in by a thin rubber grommet (same size as the ammeter) that can really get a GRIP over the years ...The trick is to ease the unit up just half a nats knacker with the aid of a thin, flat bladed screwdriver and spray penetrating oil into the gap....Work the screwdriver blade around the circumference and put more oil into the gap...Eventually it just gives way and the switch can be removed.....

Fitting a bakelite switch should be very simply because you only have to pick up 2 points because you would not be using it as a light switch just as a main ignition switch. You can either set the ignition wires in the parker position or the headlight on position
