I have one of Mr Hs goldstar silencers fitted to my indian 350 bullet and whilst a thing of beauty to look at it is not endering me to my neighbours at 6.00 in the morning as I leave for work any suggestions how I make said silencer silent or any suggestion of an alternative silencer that is quiter

Hi davep.
The way to make a silencer more efficient is to make it larger, either longer or wider and to incorporate more effective baffles.
Modern bikes have super efficient silencers - which have massive capacity and catalytic converters as well as very effective baffles.
A short free-breathing 'silencer' can't also be quiet.
It's a choice, one or the other, but you can't have both.

Try one of Mr H's Mutes (listed in exhaust section) Fit it in the end of the downpipe.

Dave, as my MOT inspector always says, it's a matter of safety, if someone can hear you coming they won't pull in front of you, Bertie also has a Goldie fitted and while I own him it's stays fitted, it may be loud but Harley's and various street bikes are louder, besides 6am is day time and the world is awake.

I made up a washer, that would go through the end of the muffler, welded it to a piece of rod put it in through the end then tacked the rod down at the inlet end. Works well as it just takes the bark out of it

I've made my own silencers which are basically hollow burgess lookalikes. The one on the bullet was way too loud so I made up a baffle by obtaining a piece of exhaust tube that is an interference fit into the tail of the header pipe. I blanked off the end with the gas welder and a piece of 1.2mm panel steel then I drilled a sufficient number of 5mm holes to equal the header pipe size so that there is straining but no restriction. This is located in the tail of the header (a tight friction fit) and the muffler is then placed over the top. Whilst this doesn't take away the low frequencies it does vastly reduce the high frequencies which makes the bike much more neighbour friendly.

Stuff em , if they cant stand the volume of the past they have not much hope for tomorrow

If you have a look at fleabay you will find for not much money long baffles, up to about 12 inches long, that will replace the silly little 3/4 inch baffle that comes with the aftermarket "silencers".
