Curley question that I have to solve, I have to fit electronic ignition to a 612 crankshaft using the home market crank fired reluctor/pulse coil setup.First problem is there is no keyway in the crank to locate the reluctor, hopefully that can be solved. Pretty sure I can work out some way to mount the pulse coil in the primary but my question is about wiring up the ignition module. I haven't seen the module yet but apparently it needs a plug in connector which was obviously part of the home market wiring loom. Has anybody had any experience with this setup?

Wow , that is a curly one .
Will you be able to fit the alternator ? Our hosts crank magneto means you cant run lights , is your idea able to get over that , the key way should have been machined before the crank was assembled but you might just might be able to do it . Please let us know how you got on when all is said and done .
The great thing about crank fired magnetos is one can get rid of 3 gears and the distributor shaft and it will make less noise as well as not having the slop of gears moving the timing around...not much but everything counts .

Phil, the plan, not muy idea, is for the gears to drive the supercharger, I'm just the mug being presented with all these problems. My main concern is at the moment to work out how to wire the ignition module

Oh gosh Norm ...I dont know where to start , supercharging single cylinder engines hosts a mass of problems and driving one on those tiny gears with a charger speed thats 1:1 , it might be better spinning one off the crank with a chain , they take a few horses off the engine to get a few more horses back but you might need a long induction pipe to hold the charge without blowing your pressure valve all the time .
I would think charging a Carbury V twin would be better .
My thoughts would be more at tuning a single pot engine to within an inch of it's life , 40 bhp with the full 612 kit or 45 bhp with the Fury head and GP carb .
I would look at the 50 bhp Jawa 2 valve singles for ideas , just 5 bhp extra to get from a Royal Enfield engine comes at a cost , camshafts with scary looking ramps hammer the crap out of the valve train .
I know the re-issue Manx Nortons had to be de-tuned a bit to make them more flexible , Gold stars only put out 40 bhp . I recon your best bet would be a 612 Fury running on methonal.
I have a lovely vane air compressor pump off a Sunderland flying boat that I was going to use as a super charger for a 2 stroke engine ..in fact I have the whole auxillery ABC engine as well ( pretty rare as ABC motorcycles converted the engines for it ) it was the first plane in the world to have an auxillery engine . You could always use nitro in the fuel for chemical supercharging !
