Guys,

Just wondering how many miles do you get in a classic style tank before you hit reserve tap. Just at a nice steady pace and not pushing the old girl too hard. I know every bike will be different but curious for your replays.

Hello matey------------------- here's my No.1 Bullet in its' current guise and when going on long ride-outs with "THE BOYS" I always fill-up at the start of the day and use 80mpg as a guesstimator (or 240 miles for the tank shown)... That takes in mostly 55mph average plodding & some spirited 65-70 sprinting, which gives the 8.5 CR piston a bit of a work-out------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Image ----------------------------------------------

Hi there,
Just stumbled across your post. I tuned my old girl up with a Gunnsons Colortune. Get 75 to 80 on the ride to work which includes a 70mph stretch. Kept a record of me fuel used. Well worth the investment in my opinion.
Ride safe

Hi Bulleteers. On my biker weeks holiday in Wales last week I was returning on fill ups well into the 80's MPG. That's Miles Per Gallon not 5 Litres. The best I recorded was 88 MPG on my 2006 Electra X. Not bad eh? My son recorded on his 2007 GS500F at best 70 MPG. Petrol consumption is a big issue with me (for the obvious reason)so you can stick all those past bikes I've had: VFR's, big Virago's, XS750's etc etc. I'll keep my Bullet cause it's fun not fast but I don't want speed now, just fun as I ride though those Welsh hills. By the way, Wales was beautiful. What I great week last week! Just one hiccup. And, thanks to our host for posting the new clutch cable to my guest house. Received the morning after and duly fitted first thing. Well done Richard at Hitchcocks!

My 2006 Bullet 350 only gets about 60mpg, can go up to about 67 if I really try. There's no leak in the fuel system, and I don't think the wife and/or dog are drinking it. I think I need to check out the carb tuning.

I've just filled up and (after 3 weeks of riding) and it took just under 2 gallons to top up the tank. This gives me an MPG of roughly 75. This is on a Lightning with standard gearing and not going over 60MPH (Well, not much over).

The only time I've bothered checking the fuel consumption of my Electra X it came out as 107mpg. That was after a 180 mile round trip. Standard carb, air filter but using super unleaded with an iridium plug. Think the Lean Burn title is justified in that!

Your right Frank The lean burn is justified. I too have an iridium plug fitted with standard carb and air filter. Ride safe.

When I think about all the motorcycles in the Mad Max 2 post Apocalyptic oil war film they would really need Royal Enfields rather than the souped up bikes they ride . I imagine if they all left the desert and lived in the tropics they could make Methonal from sugar cane , Australian fuel is at about $1.48 per litre and Australians still complain !
