Occasional misfire

Just fitted Mr H's replacement silencer to my 2012 Electra EFI. Looks great and sounds great, if a little noisy, but I am hoping it will quieten down slightly when it beds in with some exhaust deposits. I took it out on a good 70 mile run and it ran like a dream apart from the occasional pop when decelerating down through the gears, usualy in third and second. (I blip the throttle when changing down.) Is this because the exhaust is more free flowing?
It's not a major problem, just a bit annoying.

The shorty with baffle? Mine is also very noisy and it does not get quieter. Popping I also have, I think some silicone sealant inside the pipe overlap may eliminate possible air leak. I would resort to ear plugs cos it definitely agrevates my tinitus. Not sue it really increases power, by maybe it needs the Dyno commander to optimise.

Cheers Trevor CH

I too have one of these and it also pops on the overrun like yours which i quite like.As Trev says it's probably due to an air leak.I also wear earplugs due to tinitus but it can be quietened down a bit by fitting a longer baffle and packing out with fibre glass wadding.

Popping on the overrun means an air leak, the silicon sealer advice is the way to go.

For some strange reason it is very heat resistant.

Popping on the over-run???

It's one of the finest noises a motorcycle can make!!!

Thanks for the comments. Just ordered a new baffle which will increase the length from 4" to 6" max. I have also ordered a sheet of 'exhaust baffling wool' that will hopefully quieten things down a bit. I think I can live with the pop, it takes forever to adjust the brake pedal height and down pipe..
