This is probably been done to death but I have to ask. Replaced the oil in my chain case last weekend. Used ATF I had kicking around, I can't remember the brand I used but man is the bike noisey now!
Do people use ATF or is there a better fluid for in there?

I use ATF in my Lightning. If you don't like the noise that comes out of the primary chaincase, fit the chain tensioner that has the rubber tip on it. It really enhances the clatter from the valve gear!

I'm not convinced in the benefits of using ATF in anything other than an auto box but an increase in noise is not one of the drawbacks that I've encountered. Is there something else amiss in the chaincase?

Hi guys--------- have ATF in both Bullet 500's for some time now---- no "Extra" noises found..Was this just a straight "Drain and re-fill" or have you done something else along the way ??

thanks people,
it was just a straight drain and refill. Perhaps the onset of noise and the change of primary case oil were just a coincidence. I'm not even sure it is the Chain case that is the source but I leaned that way given the recent activity on my part. Maybe I filled it less then had been in it before.
I'm going to have to take it for a spin tomorrow and see if I can't put my finger on the source but it's a Roar that gives me a bad feeling. I'll let you know
