Hi all I have just began to re assemble the gearbox outer casing on my 350 bullet but I am not sure which way round the outer oil thrower on the gearbox main shaft is fitted , it is dished on one side so does the dish face inwards or outwards also the main shaft has a groove in it should there be a woodruff key in the groove , I have looked on the parts section but this does not show any relative information.(help)

Hi Taper, the dish faces out, I don't think you could put it the other way around and don't worry about the key, nothing there

There is no key, but the groove is there for a reason. Line up the groove on the shaft with the slot on the oil thrower. This apature will now accept the tab of the locking washer. Add the locking washer then screw on the (left handed thread) nut. Once on, bend over a tab on the locking washer onto a flat of the nut. Job done.

Barry you are right, but I can't recall seeing a locking washer on them for years, they don't seem to be a problem without the lock washer

thanks guys I have half an idea that the locking washer was paramount to finishing the job it just seemed that the locking washer sat more easily when the oil thrower was reversed
