We have a Series 2 Inter, one of the last of them, and it has matching frame and engine numbers. I didn't think the factory cared about these numbers

Jackson, I didn't think the factory cared about the frame number and the motor numbers matching, at least I can't recall it happening before, might be wrong.

You're right Norm, the only maker I know of was Triumph who stamped the frame with the same number as the engine after the bike was built. I suppose it could be a fluke but more likely someone has been tampering with the numbers.

Norm and Dennis C, I thought that from the late Mk1A's and through the Series 2's the frame and engine numbers were matched, even the Clymers. The Rickmans might have been mixed up though.

My apologies guys, it would appear that jackson is correct and the frame and engine numbers do in fact match with just a different prefix, you can find a register of Interceptor's on a competitors web site which it would be unfair to our host for me to give their details here.
