Hi all ,further to my last post and advice from grunda and lucky eddie , I have commenced stripping my 350 bullet to check the kick start pawl , BUT after removing the gearbox outer casing and removing all securing screws and bolts the inner casing has separated from the gearbox by aprox 1/4 inch thus breaking the gasket seal but will not move any further and allow access to the kick start pawl, on trying to remove the outer cover any way past this small distance all I get is a very solid "clunk" but no movement outwards whatsoever , any ideas please.

found the problem as to why the inner gearbox casing will not separate from the gearbox. main shaft bearing seized onto main shaft, only way to get the bearing free was to grind the outer bearing case until I was able to drop the ball bearings out one by one this allowed the gearbox casing to separate from the gear box as it should have initially , then grind the inner bearing casing until it became loose on the main shaft and I was then able to remove it , what should have been a relatively easy job turned into a more difficult and time consuming task , I guess that's one of the pleasures of working on a bullet that is nearly fifty years old. Thanks everyone for the tips and advice , I am just about to order the parts on line from our hosts and I will update when I am back on the road hopefully soon.
