When I put away my 2004 65 in October last year the electric start was working ok.

Last weekend I dragged the bike out of the garage and charged the battery. When I tried the electric start all a got was a loud clicking from the solenoid.

What's gone wrong?

Dont forget after a time standing some electrical conections will need checking/cleaning, does not take much corrosion to bugger up the flow.

The battery would be in better shape if you'd kept it charged over the winter instead of leaving it and then expecting it to recharge in the spring. Vehicle batteries don't like being discharged and often never recover from it, though the "Optimate" type chargers can work wonders with a duff battery.

That is 8 months ago, battery will be shot, can't leave a battery sit like that, some glass matt batteries can handle it but not lead acid

Also regularly check the trickle charger - I didn't last winter and it had stopped working and had a flat, dead battery. I agree with previous posts - the battery needs to be virtually fully charged before it will turn over the engine on the electric starter.

Your all correct, it's the battery. Can anyone tell me the correct code for a Sixty 5 battery. When I bought the bike as a non runner it didn't have a battery, I bought a YB 14L - B2 but this seems a tight fit in the battery box.

Hi Guys--------- DEREK W, according to our hosts on-line parts book it should be a 12v-14AH battery with sizes as}--- 132 x 90 x 168............Which makes that one of yours ok, (It's a YUASA and the 14L makes it a 14AH battery).............have a look at this}---------- http://www.mdsbattery.co.uk/shop/produc ... oupID=1038 ------------Yes, they are a tight fit in the tray.. Make sure the terminals are clean, tight and smeared with a light grease (Vaseline is the old stand-by)and the rubber retainer strap is fitted....
