I took the bitsa for its first decent high speed trip today post running in the new aluminium barrel. There was unsurprisingly a considerable improvement in the cooling at speed. I came back down the motorway at a sustained 60 to 65mph and when I got home the bike was a cool as a cucumber. In the old days with the iron barrel it would have been ticking and temperamental after a stretch like that.

How right you are Norm! I jumped onto the North Western Motorway which has a satisfyingly sloped on ramp that allows the bullet to high revs in all gears and as I swung into the middle lane to blitz the slow coaches I spot Mr Plod with a hand held radar under the flyover. Hopefully he was going for someone on four wheels but ill keep an eye on the post box with some trepidation. It's Queens Birthday weekend here and there is a lowered tolerance from 9 to 4kms over the speed limit so I was done for all money if he snapped me. .
