Anybody had any problems with the electra x ignition switch?
My 2008 has an ongoing problem with corrosion on the internal contacts. It takes some waggling of the key to get it to make proper contact when starting and if not looked at soon enough it starts lose contact whilst riding.
Despite my attempts to keep it clean which have included careful disassembly down to its basic parts. I've then cleaned everything and greased it all with silicone grease and still the bugger is playing up again Its been wd40d down the keyhole. I've taken it apart cleaned it and left off the silicone grease. Am I the only unlucky one? I'm loathe to buy the same again only to have the same problems... Anybody tried anything else - i.e. Durite on-off ignition switch.
Any thoughts, ideas, anecdotes or mods gratefully received! Thanks.

Hi Pete,

Ditto here but on a EFI, its the same ignition though. the morning 'shoogle' of the key gets it started. Sometimes the front brake also causes a short, but less so when it is dry outside. I have to shoogle to the 11 o'clock position :) so your not the unlucky one!

Pete, it is an Indian product and I find with a lot of their parts you get a 50% failure rate so by replacing it you may get one that works, you may not but thats the way it is

Hi Pete. When after 20.000 miles the ignition switch of my Electra started playing up, and left me stranded on the Northumberland back roads on a few occasions, I splashed out on a 'common key set'. All has been fine since.
