I'm hearing disturbing reports from a mate who has borrowed my Crosbred Bullet that he thinks it might have busted the idler shaft. So hard to check when the bike is 70ks away and I can't walk, and no I wasn't planning on walking the 70ks, I just want to be able to walk lol

Bugger! How did he achieve that? Understand your desire to walk I've knackered my knee somehow and can't move too far.

Hi Simon, He rang me the night before to tell me the actuating lever in the box had broken and then he decided to try riding to my place so I could weld it up till he could get a new part. A few sets of traffic lights till he could get to the freeway and only a couple at my end. He didn't tell me how it happened but I am guessing he tried to clunk it into gear from stationary. I can see me having to trailer it to my place but the most simple job if you can't walk is hard

Hi Norm. If you mean the lever inside the gearbox just behind the cover, I have had the bolt attaching it to the bar running under the bike to the gear pedal, rattle loose, rendering it useless and gear changes impossible. If we are talking about the same lever, then I can't see how your friend could have clunked the bike into any other gear, than the one the bike was in when the lever broke. Then again, knowing you, you have the right hand gear change, and perhaps things are set up differently. I sincerely wish you a recovery from your accident, Norm, and that you'll be walking again.

Hi Robin, thanks for the thoughts on my leg, trying to convince my wife I need a mobility scooter, haven't told her it is based on a K100 BMM. It wasn't the selector shaft bolt that broke from what I understand it is the lever which operates the 3 ball plate. I'm tipping the gearbox issues are not related to the original problem but time will tell.

Gwilly,
the lower one is the cable breaker because the cable had to flex, nothing else it could do
