My Ariel Sports Arrow

Sorry this not R. E. related, hope nobody minds, but a little problem with keeping the white wall inserts white. About 18 months ago I had to change the rear tyre, I reused the insert, there is something in the new tyre that staining the white insert, a brown stain on the surface. I have tried rubber cleaners/sealers on the tyre and the insert, it's very hard to remove and keeps coming back and grinning at me. The workshop manual recommend a brillo pad, this does work but is to aggressive to do to often. Also paint brush cleaner helps but it can't do the rubber much good. I've tried all the cleaners I can think of and it's driving me MAD
