Hi Paul, I have changed the clutch now, I found some distortion in the steel plates so I bought the kit with the three stronger springs. I put the ATF oil back in as Hitchcocks strongly recommended it. I've spent a couple of hours today riding the bike and making several adjustments, stopping and starting and making roadside adjustments. Still can't change down to 2nd without a false neutral. Rain stopped play in the end. I've been thinking about changing the oil to a straight 15/40 as you said, but having just read the last few comments, I really don't know if I'm batting or bowling !

I've tried both ATF and 15/40 oil and I find the clutch less prone to drag with the oil. The difference is slight but as an example when cold and first put into gear it doesn't lurch forward with the oil as it did with the ATF. I may be going against the majority opinion but I'm sticking to the oil! If you have put in the combination of heavy and light springs did you put them in alternately round the clutch i.e heavy light heavy etc?

Oil gives a smoother take-up than ATF.
