hi dennis,my electra was once an electric start model it had aft in the primary ,since replacing the clutch i used 15/40 as recomended in the manual ,i think the best advise is ,if you have just changed the clutch stick to one type of oil don,t change types as wet clutches sometimes don,t like changes in oil i have found this out after many years experience atb paul.

I have a 2004 electric start Bullet 500. I replaced the clutch plates with our hosts 5 plate upgrade to eliminate slipping (successful) and reduce drag (almost but not quite). In doing so, I asked Hitchcocks about oil - ATF they said, so I ordered ATF and stuck it in the primary side after soaking the plates for 48 hours in the ATF. Bike seems to run fine. Lots of apocryphal urban myths out there - if you want a quick answer, call Hitchcocks on most things, they are great.

Hi Dennis t c, I got my Bullet (K-start) with ordinary oil (if such a thing exists) in the primary drive. Since the clutch is not the easiest thing to get right on a Bullet I experienced some clutch drag occacionally. Pain in the ass to put it short. I got the heavier clutch springs from our host and started to use ATF type F. Now the clutch has a tremendous grib... The ATF has some little (very small) friction particles in it. Type F has even more, or they are of another kind, developed for Ford automatic transmissions. These little particles do the trick. ATF is highly recommendable... all the best Jacob

Same as Sofiaspin, 5 plate upgrade and ATF, works well... Used the full litre,
