Headlight not working

Another problem that I found today, all of the lights are working except the headlight!
The sidelights work, as do the small sidelight in the headlamp, but as soon as you flick it to main headlamp there is nothing. I am sure the actual switch is ok as the rear light and instrument cluster stays lit, and the bulb looks fine and comes on when you 'flash'
So the headlight does not come on even when on full beam, but will come on when flashed. Very confusing. Any tips? Sorry if this does not make much sense

John's right, on a 2008 Bullet the headlight is powered direct from the alternator via a regulator. You'll find 4 wires coming from the alternator, two for the headlight, two for the battery which powers everything else, including the flash, which, of course, you might need independently. You might find you need to explain this to whoever does your MOTs (depending where you take it)

Thanks guys just me being a numpty then. I am obviously waiting for the new coil at the moment (in the other thread) so I can't start the bike up to see, plus the fact that its currently in my dining room! Thanks again for all your help. Also MOT's will not be an issue as my local bike garage specialises in old English bikes (so i am sure he will be fine with a new Indian one). Heres some pictures for you all as well to laugh at.
