Hi all,

Following the oil pump failure, and resulting big end failure, a few weeks ago, got the crank back and started the rebuild. Noticed something strange though when putting the head on. The sleeve bolts seem to bottom out on the bottom of the counter bored hole in the head before the head of the bolt bottoms out on the head itself. If this OK?

Yes this is as it should be. The hex is only for turning.

Hi guys------ ZITMAN, don't forget to fit some HARDENED WASHERS before the sleeved bolts... That way the next time the head won't get jammed onto the studs....

hardened washers a must. take care with the rocker bearing nut torque, as I just finished a rebuild and stripped two of the rocker bearing studs in the head torquing to 9ft pounds. the general concensus was 6ft pounds is plenty, and may help avoid a trip to the machine shop.
