Just an item that came up in conversation thre other day------ with the passing of the original Bullet iron engine, what's happened to all the patterns, molds, tooling etc ? Will there be another China Clone on the market soon ?? Underpricing even India ?? That'll be a first.

Ah but has it passed Alan? Yes, they are no longer imported here, (due no boubt to European Union red tape) but who's to say they are not still being made and sold in India - or even China?

Now that would be good Idea if only they made a original copy of a twin like a Constellation or Meteor engine. I would buy one I'm sure I could shoe horn it into my old bullet frame somehow.

Now, I can't remember where I saw this (It was on an Enfield related website), but the iron engined Bullet is still being made, although it's in very limited numbers. Then there's the spare parts to consider. In the car industry, once a model is defunct, the manufacturer has to provide parts for a period of 10 years. After that, the tooling can be scrapped (In reality, it's sold off and somebody else makes the parts). Perhaps Enfield is subject to the 10 year rule?

Hello Alan,
I don't think they are making Iron Bullet engine, In all the showrooms out there they have new model Enfield. Will check out during next visit. You can still get all the spares for "old Bullets".

I'm Sad to add that when I was over there this time last year everything I heard and saw was that the old engine is gone. 2009 seemed to be the last year of production for them and it seems to have become rather cool to own one from that year. "The last of the best" was what I was told on more than one ocasion by beaming faced Indian men as they sat on their beloved bike and chatted Enfield.
I only really saw the new engine over there in the showrooms. I think that in the 6 weeks of that trip I didn't see more than 1 or 2 on the roads.
I smiled at the idea of the tooling being bought again!!
