Same old oil breather issue.

Howdy chaps. I hope all is well? I've got a 2004 500cc Bullet. The breather has always made a mess when doing high speeds but recently it's got worse. After a good run the oil level was quiet a way BELOW the dipstick. This is obviously not good and needs attention. Unfortunately there's no modification kit available for my model. It doesn't have the breather on the left of the crank case under the cylinder (Although the moulding is there.) It's on the top of the crank case behind the cylinder. At the moment I have the catch can fitted with a breather from the can going over the rear wheel and releasing behind the number plate. I used to just have a duck bill onto the chain but this made a lot of mess and I didn't like the idea of oil on the rear tyre. (My current set up still puts oil on the rear tyre though.) What can I do? Have I got a problem with high cranks case pressures maybe? Cheers.

Hi MATT------- still trailing OK then ?? ------------ Can you put up a photo of your engine's rear end ? ( not in a personal way, please !!) --- Why won't our hosts breather mod. kit work for you then ?? ... BULLET WHISPERER mentioned a while back about adding a breather pipe from the rear (Inlet) rocker cover using some 1/2" pipe I think ??

Matt,
Have a read here; http://www.whfolk.co.uk/REOCHUMBER/Arti ... eather.htm

It helps a lot if the breather pipe goes as high as possible. I've altered the one in the picture in the article to go right up behind the battery before going down again.
