Bush gear operator pin leak

Hi guys - veedol 00 grease and EP 90 mix is leaking from the bush gear operator pin at the rear of the gearbox on my 2004 ES Bullet classic. Can this pin be safely unscrewed and removed, locktite applied, and screwed back in - or will it cause problems within the gearbox. It is part no 111085 in the online catalogue - I cant seem to work out how to post pics I have taken of the leak. The quick fix might be just to nip it up but best to ask the wise here than end up being a fool later. Thanks!

to sofiaspin,
took me a while to find the bit you were talking about so will put my thoughts down now this may help or it may not.I have a Hatz/RE diesel and the problem I had was veedol and oil coming out of the clutch pushrod cover (kickstart gearlever side) and dripping into the outer gearbox cover. How I cured it was to top up the gearbox with veedol grease to match the same ammount which had leaked out into the outer cover. At last I had more grease then oil in the box and the problem went away. So just a thought have you perhaps got to thiner mix in the box ?
Hope that helps and all makes sense.
All the best,
Nick

Thanks Nick makes enormous sense - I have thought that perhaps we have overfilled with EP90, hence the leak on what is an otherwise oil tight and superb bike. Err, apart from the non-sealed gearbox bearing of course! Love the bike and am taking it to the North of Scotland this June so just want to ensure it is fit for task.

had the same problem on my 350es. for a quick fix I added motor honey to the gearbox and it slowed the leak considerably. only long term fix for me was the sealed bearing kit from our host. no more leaks and I can now run 90w gear lube - shifts smoother and runs cooler. good luck.
