i run the tyres on my enfield 2000 classic bullet front 32psi and rear36psi as enfield manual is this to hardthe tyres ar smfront and safety milage rear what do you blokes or girls think

Hi Steve, I might be wrong, but that looks a bit on the high side to me. I also ride a Bullet Classic (350cc 2008 model) on Avon SM's and my manual clearly states 24 PSI front and 28 PSI back, riding solo.

Hi guys--------- those look like the 2-up figures.. I'm on the same set-up (500 classic, Avon ribbed front, SM rear) and I'm using 26 front, 30 rear = solo.

I`m using 22psi front and 26psi rear on a 535cc lightning,this suits me.

Tyre pressures and indeed tyres are utterly subjective - what suits you may not suit others, personally I've always prefered pressures on the high side. Your pressures depend on a number of factors, for instance are you, like me, a 15 stone fat fu**er or are you an 8 stone lightweight? You may be running 2-up pressures but if you're a big guy that could be what you need. You have to play around with the pressures and find what feels best for you and the tyres you're running on. Different tyres will need different pressures and the hand-book is only a guide, it's not the final word.

Yes as already stated it depends on Personal preference type of tyres riding style weight em. Being on the wrong side of 16 Stone I always keep my Dunlop TT100s at 30 psi Front 35psi rear. Even did the same when I had the Avon SMs fitted and found they handled well even on corners.

Hi guys------- this subject matter raises a slight problem ie }--- I've heard recently that the Police, as part of their on-going "tyres & road safety" campaign have, amongst other things, been checking tyre conditions---- including the pressures being used...Those that did not comply to the manufacturers figures were prosecuted !!... It would be interesting to see just WHICH Enfield handbook figures they would want to use ???......... As you all rightly say}---It's very subjective...Anyone know a good brief ???

im about 10stone so il try lowering them a bit and see how she handles

Pressures of around 18 psi front and 28 psi rear solo: 20 and 30 with pillion, in the small hand book will cause the rear tyre to slip on the rim and tear out the the valve stem. That is why the workshop manual says 32 front and 36 rear. If you look on the sidewall of the tyre, it says 36 PSI cold with loads up to 505 lbs, about 36 stone.
If it`s good enough for the manufacturer to stamp this on their product, it`s good enough for me to take notice.

----------- or you could try doing it the old fashioned way and read the tread wear pattern ?? ie]---- central wear pattern = over-inflated, wear on the outside edges = under - inflated
