Hi guys---------- just to pick-up on something JAFFA90 and myself alluded to in thread headed "How to fix Fork gaitors"..ie}--- these page numberings.. I have a question to our hosts and/or Sincordia which is}---- Why are the pages numbered in reverse order ???? Surely the very first page should have been No.1 and not the current page in use ?? At the moment each time we move on a page then ALL the previous pages change their number also....Where's the sense in that ??... If I give a reference No. to-day then this time next year say, that page will have become a different No..Can this be rectumfied ???

Al, good point! Could I also mention that the search engine for Posts is rubbish as well? You need to know EXACTLY what the Post said to find it which to me defeats the purpose.

---------- which makes it one of these I fear }---------------
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catch-22_( ... ---------- and thus by its' very mention cannot be denied for fear of a retribution that---paradoxically--- cannot take place because it never existed in the first place....Come on GRUNDA, keep up !! ............SO, by application within the Hitchcocks search engine we present the latter with a dicotomic situation equivalent to the solution of Pi to infinity ie a digital "Lock-out"..As the aforementioned search engine is---in reality--- a DIFFERENCE ENGINE ( Reference to the book/film "I, ROBOT" is recommended at this stage ), then, as no difference is experienced, it will only give you EXACTLY what you ask of it in the first place !!!...Thus defeating its' very purpose and, by extrapolation, its' existence at all...Now watch this film for a better understanding of that last point}-----

Alan,
I cannot see that reversing (or similar) the page numbers would work. Because you can view the messages in various different orders (created by, date created and latest post) you can not fix the page numbers. Your page number 22 viewed in "date created" order would be different to someone elses page number if viewed in "latest post". Therefore it seems fairly logical to have the latest page as "page number 1 of 410" (The same as Ebay for what it is worth).

Hello JIM B-------------- Well, you have the better on me there matey !!... I didn't know we could view messages in different orders or formats..... how's that done then ?? Up to now I've just cliked onto one of the three main headings as presented..Being able to select "Latest Postings" would be very handy, I know other forums do have this facility... The vast pool of tech. info contained within these pages ought to be more easily accessed by anyone from any viewpoint---- especially with such regular chestnuts as "Which Engine oil / fork oil" etc, etc....If the page Nos. are constantly changing, for whatever reason, then what's the point of having them in the first place ?? Imagine if your local reference Library were to move location at the end of each week AND with no forwarding address given either............Maybe our hosts along with SYNCORDIA can come up with a better, user-friendly system ??

--------------AH-HA !!!.. Following your comments, I have just done a bit of experimenting with the top headings and now see what you meant with "Latest Postings" etc...(That grey heading on the left is easily missed)..and how to select them, and thus why the page No's will vary.... Which makes it all the more important then that some sort of stability be introduced I think...
