I filled my tank up on 2003 bullet today and after a few miles noticed a a yellow fluid , obviously petrol running from under the petrol cap , which is the push down and twist type . I wiped it off,but during trip home it would now and then continue to run down the tank . I'm guessing its where I brimmed the tank with fuel , but the colour was a sort of yellow so although petrol could it be a leaky tank from filler whole orbits the petrol cap ?

Thanks

Petrol often looks like this if it has been trapped long enough for the more volatile fractions to evaporate leaving behind a sort of oily base. If you left it even longer you'd get a sort of gummy substance which eventually hardens like varnish; this is the stuff that often gums up carburettors after long storage.

Hi Reds, Our host do a new thicker cork gasket for the push and twist petrol cap.

Part no 15941A For a reasonable 0.70 pence... I changed mine last week for the same reason as the old
gasket was nearly paper thin after 10 years use.. cheers gwilly
