Hey
Am about to sell my R.E Bullet 500cc ( 1995 Left shift) and buy a right shift R.E Bullet 500cc (1993 model) with an additional cost of around €150. Reasoning behind this is mainly the bad gear change linkage encounter with the left shift model.
Does anyone know whether any weaknesses have been reported with the 1993 right shift model ??
Thanks

Yes the left shift was not the epitome of engineering excellance.

Service history and or receipts would show a considerate previous owner.

The machine is twenty years old so leave the rose tints at home. gwilly

I suppose the transfer to opposite side gear change is driven by the same impulse that made Ducati do the same on my 860 the American market. Interestingly I have now had bikes with gear changes on different sides for a number of years and I was amazed how very quickly it became automatic to swap from one to the other without a moments confusion. The opposite is true with the indicators in my cars. All my cars are European in origin and consequently have indicators on the left ( clearly designed for the Continent) when I get into a Japanese or Australian vehicle I'm constantly trying to indicate with the wipers.
Sorry for the hijack, on topic go with the original setup every time. Simplicity is King!

If you're thinking of using a 'kit' to convert the gearbox from left to right forget it - there aren't any available (at this time), having said that I've just done it myself for less than £50, but that's a case of having to!
