Rear Brake - Electra EFI

My first post.
I have purchased my first Enfield; a 2011 Electra EFI. Since this bike is new to me, I just wanted to gauge opinion before I started fettling.
I find the position of the rear brake lever/pedal and front peg to be somewhat awkward. I feel I have to rotate my foot to an uncomfortable position to get the brake to work, even to hold the bike when stationary. There does not seem to be excessive play. Is it me or has anyone else experienced this?
Thoughts welcome.

Welcome to the world of Enfields. You should be able to alter the position of the foot peg.
Remove the fixing nut and rotate the peg to suit, retighten nut. rear brake pedal also adjustable i'm sure. gwilly.

A maintenance manual will be a big help also till you get used to the bike.
Obtained overnight from our host Mr H unless you've got one with the bike..

Welcome to the EFI world. The rear brake starts off pretty much useless, but gets better. Now after 6,000km, I can actually feel it working (2011 model). You need to screw up the rear adjuster to minimise free play and then adjust the front peg for comfort. There was also a tip sometime ago, to take the rear wheel out and remove the brake plate then to free off the two bolts that secure the pivot. This allows the shoes to self centre. I hear this is very effective, but not tried myself. Front brake however is pretty good, even though my 2011 is not on its 3rd disc, due to warping. Cheers TrevorCH

Hi Brogue. An easy fix - remove the 14mm nut at the end of the brake rod (brake adjuster nut). Then pry off the big spring which wraps around the brake cam spindle. Remove the nut which retains the brake arm (lobe shape, 3 to 4 inches long which brake rod attaches to). Remove brake arm then reattach but rotate slightly clockwise (it's on a toothed spline so rotate by a few teeth), refit nut (20mm I think), refit spring (use something to pry it on/off), refit brake rod and nut and adjust brake rod nut to allow free rotation of rear wheel. Brake pedal should be tighter. As always, if your not sure with brakes then get help from someone who is. Good luck!!

Regarding my post above... I meant rotate the arm ANTIclockwise!! Sorry for mistake. Clockwise would slacken the pedal further. M
