Hello,

I have a 2005 500cc Bullet, it has done 26kms from new !, the problem being it runs very poorly popping through the inlet valve & does not seem to run with the choke off and i am convinced its to do with the carb set up. I have removed the PAV, fitted a Hitchcocks trials exhaust & Hitchcocks cone air filter. Could someone please tell me what jets & needle position I should have in for this set up ( it still has the original VM 28 carb fitted ).

Many Thanks

Hi winnie...Sounds like the carb is jetted far to weak for this set up.

Have a look at 2013 catalogue online to the left of this screen..Page 16.

Mr H has a chart which will get you fairly close.. regards gwilly

Hello WINNIE--------- I've replied to your post in "Carb Settings to Alan R" with all the RIGGERS details you'll need....BUT you didn't mention anything about Mr H's TRIALS EXHAUST !!! which is recommended for off-use only (However there is a "mute" available which might make it more acceptable out on the tarmac)..So are you doing this mod. for looks or for actual off-road use ??

I might just take off the carb & wash it out before buggering about with jets etc.

Winnie, it might be an idea to check the inlet rubber has not split.

Hi guys----------having just re-read your post WINNIE, have you blanked-off the old PAV pipe attatchment that's in the induction manifold between the carb and the cyl. head ??------ Air into here will WEAKEN the mixture something awful !!! Ideally it should be tapped and blanked-off with a bolt (6mm I think it was )...

Hi all,

Firstly thanks everyone, first time i have used this forum. I have blanked the PAV at the manifold, the inlet rubber is new, the carb is spotless & jets clear and the trials exhaust is fitted with a mute & it is just 26kms. I have checked Alan R jet settings & found that my main jet is a 125 so will order a 130 & try(the others are correct). Alan R I am confused ref the main jet given as a 1mm drill as the hole in my 125 is larger than a 1mm drill ??
Many thanks
