Hello Djb1972,
This might help, had lots of trouble with trying to set the carb up on my machine, so I went & bought a colour tune kit by Gunston, removed spark plug screwed in the colour tune spark plug which has a viewing tube on it fitted the HT lead, then screwed the air mixture fully home ie clockwise then started the bike, letting it warm up first, the colour of the mixture from the carb burned bright yellow (to rich) I then slowly unscrewed the air mixture screw anticlockwise till I had flashs of blue coming into yellow mixture (starting to go weak). I then left it like that & had no more trouble since, My trouble was the carb was worn & had air leaks all over the place & I could not afford a new carb. My book says unscrew the airscrew one & a half turns, after using the colour tune I unscrewed it barely half a turn. Try & get a hold of a colour tune from a mate it's well worth it.
Cheers.
