went out for a ride last night to our reoc branch meeting on the newly built diesel rigid and must say that all the nonsence of broken backs etc is totally unfounded ,i rode up the M1 did various a & b roads to not much noticeable difference suspension wise as to when it had shockers on ,so as the saying go,s don,t knock it unless youve tried it,the only uncomfortable bit was flying over a mini roundabout just to try it!after riding the bike my back is usually bad the day after but today i,m a new man!!thanks to hitchcocks rigid frame,if i didnt want something too samey i would do the same to the helectra but varience in the stable is required atb paul

Just highlights the deficiencies of the swing arm frame methinks.

You tempt me Paul but postage would be a killer, love to do it to the crosbred, might tempt me in to keeping it

Paul, thanks for the review. Let's face it, rigid frames were around for many years and still are in use on many vintage bikes on our roads. If the design is done well and well 'matched' to the rear tyre and seat springs then it should be as good as you say it is!
Well done too for matching it with one of your diesel conversions - you have a real unique bike there - will you be riding it to MadMikes this year?

hi guys, thanks for all your thoughts, norm its worth the cost i,d been debating this conversion for at least 12 months but it was cost then i thought if i don,t spend it then someone else might (wife ,son ,stepkids, grandchildren)so go for it ,it fits with little tweaks here & there but on a conventional petrol enfield it would be a breaze ,i had it on the road within a week ,i,d love to do pictures but computors are not my strong point ,i have a sprung saddle fitted and it works very well, stu i,m at the big knock rally in west sussex on the weekend of mikes doo but i could make it there by 2pm and there could be 2 diesels there as my mate kevin will be with me on his newly done 1950 diesel bullet i think its called a d2 enfield buffs will know atb paul.

Rigid rear end looks really good Paul, even the diesel, not the easiest engine on the eye, looked well. Looking forward to a go on it!
