I feel embarrassed asking, but I had one load that lasted for years with the odd pump on the clutch pivot and back brake. I thought you removed the cap at the top and forced the body down over the hole in the inner lid of the grease can. But it isn't working for me.

That's what I do, you don't say why it isn't working? Maybe grease too cold, try standing it in a pan of hot water for some time? REgards, Mark

I think those tubes of grease are a better and less messy idea. You simply squeeze the tube of grease into the gun and hey presto.

Are you remembering to withdraw the central plunger/piston on the grease gun as you push down on the metal plate in the tub of grease?

Seems most people use the cartridge refill packs these days, less mess but more expensive i expect.
If your like me you have various tins for different purposes, acquired so many years ago that the writing/labels have worn away.
Remove the nozzle end and place the barrel over the hole in the inner lid.
Pull up on the plunger rod and at the same time push the barrel down onto the inner lid.
If this fails then remove plunger and push the open barrel down into tin.
Refit nozzle end and then plunger which should be fully extended and hooked into its slot in the lid to keep the spring compressed.

Or you could just grab a hand full at a time and push it into the gun with your fingers, bit messy but hey, are we men or mice..

You don't say which type of gun - pom-pom or the type with a spring-loaded plunger....
Either way, you probably have an air lock. Find some way to get the air out, and it should work...

I do the messy method it's a bit cheaper , my gun has a bleed screw which is always used , a fair few pumps are needed then you can forget about it , Enfields take years to empty a gun .
