Contact breaker sprocket pin

Some advice please. I took apart my '67 1A contact breaker housing to check the
bushings, shaft and replace the seal. The seal was loose but the bushings showed
no wear at all. Now, the pin that holds the sprocket to the shaft - is it OK to
reuse the pin? How do I know if it will stay put? I am used to roll pins or
spring pins but this is just a straight solid pin. The pin is bent slightly - is
the bend what keeps tension? One end of the pin was lightly mushroomed - do I
need to hammer the pin over to keep it in place? Thanks. Al.
