Im about to put new crankcase roller and ball bearing in my twin if these come out a tigtht fit or I dont need to use a loctite should I put the new ones in dry meaning dry in the housing and dry round the outer casings of the bearing or should they be lubricated with a light oil such as 3in1 / WD to stop fretting and help with locating /centralizing ?

If the twin is anything like the single you will need to heat the crank case halves in either an oven or with a heat gun to knock the old bearings out and then chill the new bearings and reheat the crank case to get the new ones in. No oiling will be required but the cases should be too hot to touch and the bearings cold out of the fridge and they should drop in reasonably easily.

Heat crankcases in oven, build temp up slowly til at max (250deg, usually,) then tap bearing races out, if hot enough they may well fall out. The cases will be too hot to touch, the heat will not affect them if you heat gradually! New bearings should be in freezer overnight and once cases are back up to temp will drop in easy. It sounds as if you are new to this so go careful and ask for help if in doubt. Do you have a manual? If not get one. REgards, Mark

Dry. The heating and freezing advice above is spot on. You should only require bearing lock if the outer race is loose in the cases already.

Don't forget to cover your smoke alarm, put baking foil on the oven trays and try and complete the job before the wife gets home.
