Not sure about output requirements but for ease of fitting the Sparx unit is the first one I have ever fitted that went on without a lot of messing about to get a decent air gap. I had to fit one last year just outside Dijon when my original one was fried when the oil in the primary chaincase decided to vapourise and explode. Here hopefully is a pick of the remains.

Has your old one packed a sad or are you after running some major lighting? Otherwise it's hard to see why you'd bother. The major issue I had with the old six volt set up on my Bullet was that the voltage regulation method was so primitive. A Pazon Reg/rec and everything works perfectly. With regard to setting up the air gap I found that setting the whole thing up with the stator retaining nuts just pinched up but not tight and then a gentle tap with a soft hammer got everything in the right place in a trice. I spun the engine over with spark plug removed in order to check that there was no interference at any point and then tightened the whole shebang up tight.
