Hi guys--------- have just made and fitted this little bracket to my 2005 Classic 500... The fuel tank is new and was sitting even LOWER than normal on top of the throttle cable entry into the carb. top..The overall "line" or look doesn't seem to be effected unduly--------------------------------- Image

My 2003 model 535cc enfield lightning custom would benefit with that because it has the same cable kink into the carb. Also reminds me of a chain link side plate and years ago a car back end leaf spring lifter bracket.

Nice neat job, Alan. It's interesting how these bikes vary so much - your carb looks to have far smaller clearance than mine, even though mine is a 'home market' model with an extra bit in the intake manifold. Seems to me that there must be some variation in the frames, but I might be wrong!

Hi guys and thanks for your support ( I shall wear it often !!)--------- I forgot to mention that there are 2 plates -- one either side...WINKIE, my bike is a Home market one as well, but the head is from a European model....The lower bolt is the original "across-the-frame" one whilst the top is an 8mm, flush-welded to the bracket which are then both pre-assembled into the tank's mounting lugs before lowering the tank down and over the mainframe..The steel is 1" x 1/8" bright mild and the hole centres are pitched at 3/4"....From a distance you can't see the join, in fact NORM tells me it looks bloomin marvellous from his house !!

Good job! It might even ease the problem that those rear lugs have of tending to crack.
