What is the difference between LUCAS 4 WIRE 92020 alternator and stock 4 wire alternator.

Arindamc, no idea about the Lucas one, you can probably find out but from what I know of the standard Indian 4 wire it has the same output as the 3 wire which is claimed to put 80/100 watts but in reality I think some are even lower than that. There are stators out there claiming 200+ watts but are much more expensive that a standard Indian one. With the Indian ones we usually buy 2 and hope to get at least one good one lol, same goes for Indian rec/regs

Most of the modern ones are three phase where as the old lucas ones (and I believe their Indian copies) are a single phase alternators

One big advantage is that the Lucas stator is encapsulated so the coils are less likely to be damage.

good point that peter and your quite correct ,although encapsulated coils are a nightmare if they require surgery atb paul.
